Hubei's first world-class award: The Huangxiao River Airport River Water Environment Comprehensive Governance Phase II PPP project wins the 2024 IWA Project Innovation Award

　　In mid-August 2024, the internationally renowned International Water Association (IWA) announced the winners of the 2024 IWA Project Innovation Awards at the World Water Congress and Exhibition. Among the winners was the Huangxiaohe Airport River Integrated Water Environment Governance Phase II PPP project, led by the Wuhan Municipal Water Bureau, with China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Green Investment as the general contractor and Qirun Ecological responsible for equipment supply and installation, which won the 2024 IWA Project Innovation Award Silver Award in the "Excellent Project Execution and Delivery" category.

　　IWA is the world's leading academic organization in the field of water environment. Its Project Innovation Award (PIA) is known as the "Nobel Prize" in the water treatment field. The award is given biennially to encourage global industry players to contribute to the sustainable development of water resources. During this award period, 108 projects from 34 countries, including China, the United States, Canada, Portugal, India, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, and Australia, participated in the competition, with 18 projects ultimately winning awards. Eight of the winning projects were from China, and a project from Hubei Province won this world-class award for the first time.

　　Hubei Qirun Ecological Construction Co., Ltd., as a comprehensive service provider for healthy water environments, participated in the construction of three CSO regulating pools in Changqing Park, Huangxiaohe River, and Airport River. The construction included the supply and installation of a full set of equipment, including interconnected flow meters, flushing gates, and intelligent sprayers. This contributed to the project's ability to simultaneously accommodate and regulate 450,000 cubic meters of rainwater and sewage, forming the largest group of "underground reservoirs" in central China. This effectively solved point source and non-point source pollution problems in the region, improving the drainage and self-purification capabilities of the Huangxiaohe and Airport rivers, and restoring the beautiful scenery of the rivers.

　　Qirun Ecological, with its corporate mission of "Building ecological homes and nourishing green mountains and waters," has participated in nearly 100 urban water environment governance projects, significantly improving the water environment in the relevant areas.
